Bangladesh newcomer Dameer is proving himself one to watch as he drops his latest track, and its accompanying music video, ‘Believe’. The tune kicks off with wobbly detuned synths and a relentless drum pattern, but quickly gives way to Dameer’s voice and a series of jazzy guitar chords. He explains that the track is “about romantic PTSD. It’s about wanting to move on from a past relationship but not being able to, seeing her in every potential romantic partner. I stopped trusting my instincts, I stopped believing in myself.” His gift for music stems from his youth in Dhaka, but his lyricism was developed upon his move to Kuala Lumpur. Both of these strong influences, combined with his clear appreciation for Western music, has resulted in a truly unique sound. -Dan Peeke
